After three years of excellence as CIF’s artistic director, Kevin Mullaney has resigned so he can more fully focus on his work and duties as the co-owner of the Under The Gun Theater. CIF expanded its artistic focus and growth under his stewardship and we are incredibly grateful for his talents, time and work.
We are thrilled to officially announce that CIF’s new artistic director is John Hildreth. With his experience as an actor, director, improviser, and teacher at Second City, iO, Time Line Theatre, Columbia College Chicago, Cardiff Giant and Avante Garfield among others, I know he’s going to do a great job and I’m excited to have him aboard. He’s already come up with his vision for next year’s festival. Here’s his quote: “Artistically, I lean towards keeping CIF the biggest, baddest improv festival bar none. I believe CIF 2016 can serve the improv community by celebrating the diversity and extensiveness of the scene by putting up a big tent under which everyone can play.”
The other change is that after three years of being CIF’s executive producer, CIF’s co-founder (& CIP executive director) Jonathan Pitts is going to produce CIF 2016.
Additionally, we are pleased to officially announce that the dates for next year’s CIF are May 16-22, 2016. Here’s the time frame for CIF’s submission and selection process:
December 15, 2015: Open submissions
January 31, 2016: Close submissions
March 15, 2016: Announce schedule
May 16-22, 2016: The 19th annual CIF / (aka #CIF19)
Complete submission information will be published on this site very soon.
